:: Red Dates Tea ::

This is the start of my Chinese Confinement Recipes Series! These recipes are believed to raise new mother's energy level and restore health.

So first up, Red Dates Tea. 

Red Dates Tea is an essential drink that revitalizes (because of high iron) and reduce water retention (because plain water supposedly causes water retention).

SERVES: 1 | PREP: 10 MINS | COOK: 30 MINS

Clockwise: Longan Flesh (Top Right), Dang Sheng (Bottom Right), Red Dates (Bottom Left), Black Dates (Top Left), goji berries (Center)




Ingredients:

  • 10-15 red dates (紅棗) [sliced]
  • 10g of dried longan flesh (龍眼肉) [sliced]
  • 10g of black dates (大棗) [sliced]
  • 1 tsp goji berries (枸杞果)
  • 4 Dang sheng, also known as Codonopsis (党参)  [sliced]
  • 2000ml of water

Method


1. Bring the water to a boil.
2. Put all the ingredients into the boiling water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes.

SpicyTip: You can also prepare the above ingredients beforehand and use them whenever you need Red Dates Tea~
